Sri Mahavatar Babaji Mission

About Us

Origins

Since last a few years, Sri Mahavatar Babaji Mission has been a vibing presence in the southern part of Tamil Nadu. It was founded by Gurudev H. H. Swami Brahmananda Giri in the year 2015. Prior to establishing the mission, Swamiji established a mutt “Sree Bhadrasramam”  closer to his native place.. Since 1992 he and his elder disciple Mother Shambhu Priya were living in the mutt and engaging in penance of Kriyayoga-meditation on their own and imparting it to those who are truly interested in following the path of Kriyayoga.

For many years he has been conducting Kriyayoga-Meditation classes at various places in Kerala & Tamil Nadu. A regular class had been going on at The Pioneer School Nagercoil. since 2013. Later, as per the request of his disciples, a new yoga centre named Sri Chakra Yoga Centre was started at a near by town Parvathipuram. In the year 2015, to expand his services to the humanity and to provide a opportunity for like-minded people to render service to humanity by making available this sacred teachings of immortal masters and their yoga-meditation techniques to the masses and carry out human welfare activities, he established the Mission in the name of his Guru Mahavatar Babaji. Later the Mission conducted yoga classes and satsangs at SMRV School Vadasery until it finally shifted to the present location at 1-Puliavilai Sreet, Vadasey.

Yoga- The Universal Religion

Yoga is the union of soul with God. With this union, the individual soul, bound in the prison of human body finds its true nature as is no more different from its Creator, God, who is described in the scriptures as Existence-Consciousness-Bliss “Sat-Chit-Anand“. The term yoga also implies  scientific and systematic practice various techniques for physical culture, mental concentration, life-force control, and divine union etc., Yoga can be practiced by anyone, irrespective of his/her religious affiliation, caste, creed, colour etc.

Who We Are & What We Do

We are a group of monks of Hindu-Swami Order of ‘Giri’ lineage who are dedicated to the service of God and Guru. We believe that by helping our fellow brethren to fulfil the deepest demands of their soul- realizing one’s own true nature- we are truly rendering service to God and Guru.. Registered as a charitable trust , the mission is a non-sectarian spiritual institution aimed at the welfare of humanity and nature through spiritual development of human beings. Though human soul is made in the image of God, who is ever-new, never-ending joy and bliss, man is steeped in the darkness of ignorance, which is the eternal cause of his problems,

Helping the humanity to awaken its latent divinity is the greatest service that can be rendered to God Himself. Kriyayoga-meditation is a short cut way to accomplish this. Under the divine and loving guidance of our mentor and Guru H. H. Swami Brahmananda Giri,  we, at SMB Mission, are rendering two-fold primary services to God. First, by practicing yoga and meditation as a means to self-development we serve God who resides in us. Second, imparting the right spiritual knowledge and time-tested spiritual practices of yoga and meditation that help others to build and lead a happy and divine life. Apart from spiritual services, we are also engaged in various human welfare activities.

About Logo

The logo symbolises the spiritual eye experienced by a meditating yogi. The position of spiritual eye in human body is the point between the two eyebrows. By meditating deeply the Cosmic Sound of Aum, the spiritual eye manifests before him. At first,  astral lights of various colours manifest before him which finally transform into a golden circle that represents the Cosmic Sound of Aum. Inside this circle a halo of deep blue colour will be visible, which is the Kutastha or Christ Consciousness. When yogi penetrates deeply into the the Kutastha consciouness, a small star can be visible. This is the gate way to God. By further deep meditation, yogi can enter the starry-gateway and can unite with the Almighty.

Founder Of SMB Mission Gurudev H. H. Swami Brahmananda Giri

Gurudev & Founder

Gurudev H. H. Swami Brahmananda Giri is a widely known saint and teacher of Kriyayoga in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. He began his spiritual journey at the age of 17 and now possesses an experince of more than 40 years in self-practice and teaching. Understanding the true purpose of living is to realize God within and without, he engaged in the process of instructing yoga-meditation practices that bestowed him the supreme realization for the welfare of others. Even from the begenining of his spiritual life, many people approached him for yogic initiation, most of them were too much elder to him!

With the divine decree of Divine Mother, in the year 1992, he established a mutt “Sree Bhadrasramam” at Pannipakom, a place closer to his native village. Along with his senior most and age old disciple Mother Shambhu Priya (whom we call as Ammachi “Grandmother”), he has been residing at the mutt carrying out his two-fold penance of self-practice and imparting yoga-meditation to others. Many people across the world has benefitted so far from his activities. He was one of the most prominent personalities in spreading Kriyayoga of Mahavatar Babaji in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

To make this knowledge available to all in incorrupt form, inspire others to make meditation a life-long habit, helping mankind to liberate themselves from the threefold sufferings- physical, mental and spiritual, make people realise their unity irrespective of all superficial differences, to give a helping hand of love and compassion to the needy etc, he founded the Mission in 2015.
